Pirelli marked a significant milestone with the production of 50 million tires at its Silao plant in Guanajuato, Mexico. Pirelli has celebrated the milestone with attendees such as Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, Governor of Guanajuato, and Enrico Verdino, CEO of Pirelli Mexico, along with company executives and staff.
Mexico plant was established in 2012, situated within the Silao “Puerto Interior” industrial hub, has been pivotal in serving both local and North American markets, Pirelli said. The plant specializes in high performance and ultra high performance tires for various vehicles, including cars, electric vehicles, SUVs and light trucks.
Pirelli also opened its first training center in Mexico spanning 900-square-meters which is dedicated to developing specialized local talent. The center will offer courses covering safety, quality, productivity, technology and environmental care in collaboration with local educational institutions.
Since its inauguration in 2012, Pirelli Mexico has invested more than 900M$ USD, increasing production capacity from 1.5 million to 8.5 million tires. Pirelli has also supported the Silao community through social responsibility programs and sustainability policies aligned with its global corporate guidelines.
CEO Verdino expressed gratitude to the associates who contributed to the achievement, emphasizing Pirelli’s commitment to investing in the state. He highlighted the potential for Mexican employees trained at the center to contribute globally to Pirelli’s success.
Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, Governor of Guanajuato hailed the opening of the training center he said, “With this training center, Pirelli begins a new stage in its history in Mexico. In addition, it is a clear example of their confidence in the talent of our human capital and a very strong drive for innovation, the creative mind and Industry 4.0 of Guanajuato.”
